Juice Basin Opens in Jersey City
Regine Flimlin and Enrique Wegel expands health conscious venture
Regine Flimlin and Enrique Wegel, founders of the award-winning Juice Basin Asbury Park and Montclair, will celebrate the grand opening of their Jersey City location Wednesday.
The third shop is located at 336 Second St, between the recently opened Black House Strength & Conditioning fitness center and the Ironbound Performance Athletics.
The store will feature the couple’s signature healthy, organic, and locally sourced menu, which boasts 95 percent raw, clean, dairy and gluten-free items, including cold-press juices, blended nut mylks [dairy free], smoothies, vegan bites, raw foods, and other superfoods.
To celebrate the expansion, the couple will introduce Liberty Lite, a 16 oz specialty hand pressed green juice blend featuring turmeric, cucumber, celery, parsley, lemon.
“[We are] committed to saving the planet, its workers and bees one juice at a time, by sourcing only USDA Organic certified produce,” Flimlin said in a written statement. “We only manufacture our products in Asbury Park because of its urban renewal and natural beauty, [thereby] providing year round employment to a somewhat seasonal destination.”
Juice Basin also supports urban renewal through part-time employment and mentorship to college age and creative adult entrepreneurs in its retail stores, Flimlin said.
The couple opened the Asbury Park shop in 2010 and expanded into Montclair five years later. They have garnered a 2017 NJ Innovative Business Award nod, 2016 NJ Women Entrepreneur accolade, and won BEST of Monmouth in 2012, 2013 and 2016.
The company now distributes its products to Whole Foods Market, Englewood Hospital & Medical Center, and statewide to Asset Management companies, to name a few.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring Mayor Steven Fulop, will be held 11:30 a.m. at the Second Street location in Jersey City.
