Police Seek Info In Fatal Overnight Crash
Single Car Accident Involved Monmouth University Students
A 20-year-old Moorestown man died as a result of a motor vehicle accident along South Lincoln Avenue in Ocean Township early Saturday morning, Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a written statement.
Dane M. Fante, 20, of Moorestown, was the passenger in a 2006 Audi AA8 driven by Jose R. Rivera, 21, of Lyndhurst, officials said. Both Fante and Rivera were students at Monmouth University.
The vehicle veered off the eastbound roadway near Oakwood Avenue at approximately 2:39 a.m. It struck multiple objects, including a tree, before coming to rest.
Fante was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m. at Monmouth Medical Center, officials said. Rivera was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Ocean Township Police Officers Philip Jackson, Brendan Bernhard, Joseph Bones, and Sgts Jeffrey Malone and Todd Gregory investigated.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team [SCART], and Ocean Township Police Department.
