The City of Asbury Park has announced a planned Jersey Central Power & Light electric outage in the downtown Tuesday.

“There will be a planned interruption of electric service in order to secure a switch that’s located in our manhole,” according to the statement. The work is being done to ‘help improve electric service reliability.’

The power outage will impact some JCP&L customers in the vicinity of Cookman and Lake avenues, and St James Place, officials said. The service interruption will run from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In the event of an emergency or inclement weather, the planned outage will be rescheduled for the same timeframe on Wednesday, officials said.
