Sewer Plant & Boardwalk Upgrades, Parking Meter Buy Back, & DPW Garage Remeditian On The List
This week, the Asbury Park City Council approved the introduction of a $375,000 bond ordinance that will address improvements to its waterfront located wastewater treatment plant.
The improvements will include the installation of a carbon odor control filtration system, any needed environmental testing and remediation work, as well as any associated improvements to the City’s sewer systems.
A $17,800 contract agreement was awarded to consulting engineer T&M Associates for project administration, design and inspection work.
A hearing allowing for public questions and comments will be held during the March 14 City Council Meeting.
The governing body also approved the following:
A $400,000 contract with Bird Construction of Bayville for the replacement of slats along the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Bird submitted the lowest of five bids for the maintenance project.
A $49,290.00 award to French & Parrello Associates of Wall for the final remediation work at the City’s Department of Public Works [DPW] garage, located on Main Street. The includes groundwater sampling and analysis.
A parking meter buy back program that allows its new vendor – IPS Group, to purchase the old meters at a rate of $1,000 each, which will be credited toward the purchase of new meters.
And, approval of the annual waterfront improvement wish list, funded by boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette through a subsequent developer’s agreement. The menu items put forth by Beach Utility Manager Garrett Giberson Sr, includes: the posting signs along the boardwalk that identify cross streets at a cost of $2,000, adding additional beach mats at a cost of $7,000, purchasing handicap beach chairs at a cost of $2,000, cigarette but holders at a cost of $2,000, 15 trash and recycling containers at a cost of $42,000, additional lockers at a cost of $16,000, the wi-fi fees at a cost of $18,000, and bathroom maintenance at First and Fourth Avenue at a cost of $10,000.
