Three arrested Sunday for heroin possession and two found to have active warrants
A Sunday morning motor vehicle stop along Marine Place led to the arrest of three for heroin possession.
Ian Grant, 26, of Bradley Beach was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance [CDS], maintenance of lamps and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Robert Pugliese, 31, of Red Bank was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and was also found to have an active warrant out of Middletown. Shaquasia Butts, 25, of Long Branch was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, providing false information by implicating another, failure to wear a seatbelt, and having active warrants out of Long Branch, Tinton Falls and Eatontown.
Officials said Ptl Dan Lokerson was on routine patrol with his K-9 partner Atok near 11:25 a.m. Sunday when he observed the motor vehicle violation on Ocean Ave and subsequently conducted the stop on Marine Place. Further investigation revealed the accused subjects to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
All three subjects were transported to Deal Police headquarters for processing.
Grant was released on a criminal summons, pending a court date; Pugliese was turned over to Middletown Police after being unable to post bail; and Butts was subsequently remitted to Monmouth County Jail, pending a court date.
