The idiom a dog’s life does not apply to canines boarding at Green Leaf, the new pet resort that has opened on Route 35.

With services that include personalized boarding and daycare, grooming, and obedience training, this 36,000 square foot luxury facility boasts an aquatic center, complete with a 24’ x 50’ heated saltwater pool that features a two-story waterfall. Designed for dogs of all shapes and sizes, there are two walk-in ramps, an enclosed shower, and a drying station.

A grand opening pet-and-people friendly celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The family affair features tours, food, music, swimming, police dog demonstrations, and staff meet-and- greets.

Green Leaf is the second location for world-renowned dog trainer Shelly Leibowitz and his wife Donna, who opened their flagship Millstone location six years ago.

Leibowitz, an over 40 year veteran in the dog training field, pioneered a ‘control through kindness’ approach that rests in praise, patience, practice, and persistence.

The Ocean Township location opened its doors on March 5 in the former Ocean Fitness Center building, shuttered since 2007. The Leibowitz’s and partner Vito F. Cardinale of Cardinale Enterprises, were awarded the 2018 New Jersey Builders Association Fame Award for the renovation and beautification of the property.

The facility itself is designed with a particular attention to safety and sanitation. It is outfitted UV lighting and cushioned, high-traction, antimicrobial flooring; commonly used in hospitals to eliminate bacteria. An antimicrobial HVAC system that filters and sanitizes the air was added, as well as a generator in case of a power outage.

There are also four restaurant quality, stainless-steel kitchens for food prep and storage. And, the supervised doggie daycare offers group play with dogs of similar temperament and energy levels throughout the facility’s six play areas from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
