Ocean PD Car Burglary Arrest

Resident, 34, Lands In County Jail For Theft Of Cigarettes

A 34-year-old resident observed burglarizing a vehicle in a liquor store parking lot was remanded to Monmouth County Jail, according to a news release from the Ocean Township Police Department.

Javar J. Johnson, a 34-year-old township resident was charged with burglary and theft.

Officials said detectives were in the area of Save Rite Liquors on Route 35 at 9:25 a.m. Thursday when they observed a male meandering throughout the parking lot.

Johnson was observed peering into a vehicle, quickly entering and exiting the same vehicle while placing something in his jacket, according to the written statement. Upon seeing this, detectives moved in and stopped Johnson. Their investigation revealed that Johnson did not have permission to enter the unlocked vehicle and remove cigarettes.

After processing, Johnson was transported to Monmouth County Jail, pending an initial court appearance.

Detectives Raheem Carter, Christopher Brady and Det Sgt Gregory Tongring investigated.
