Making Muffins Juried Art Show A Part of Catsbury Park Cat Convention In Asbury Park
Feline support event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in & around Convention Hall
Loch Arbor artist Vilja Virks-Lee is on a mission – a mission that is $806 away from coming to fruition [at the time of this posting].
“I want to put my magenta pussyhats up in the sky to encourage everyone to keep fighting everyday for our democracy,” she wrote in the You Caring source-funding post. “The money will be spent for a digital billboard on the New Jersey Turnpike; $2,000 will pay for one month of viewing.”
Virks-Lee will be among the artists participating in this weekend’s Making Muffins art competition during the Catsbury Park Cat Convention.
Her original vote_pussy_hat image [shown in feature photo] is a 33″ x 23″ silkscreen that will be among the 25 finalists displayed at the Catsbury Park and Parlor Gallery sponsored popup event.
“It is intended to be a shoutout to all the kids around the country who said Enough,” Virks-Lee said.
The artist said the print was inspired from her attendance at the Women’s March in Washington DC on Jan 21, 2017. After attending the March For Our Lives event in Asbury Park on March 24 she launched the billboard campaign.
“Again [I] felt the energy of the thousands of people marching and I want to encourage everyone to remember the power we have when we stand together,” she wrote.
The inaugural Catsbury Park Cat Convention runs from 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in The Asbury, Convention Hall and the Paramount Theatre on the AP Boardwalk.
