Third Annual Asbury Park Day Planning Begins
Volunteers and Vendors Sought For June 23 Event
The date has been set – this year’s Asbury Park Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 23, organizers have announced.
The event, with its focus on enhancing the quality of life for all, is aimed at uniting the entire community through food, music, art and education is held at area parks and houses of worship across the city.
“On June 15th, 2016 the Mayor and Council, of Asbury Park, commended a group of citizens for their care for and commitment to the city,” organizers said in a written statement. “This marked the inaugural celebration of Asbury Park Day, the 4th Saturday in June. This day will promote the essential bond, and catalyst for the advancement, enhancement, growth and success for the city. Asbury Park is a beautiful, diverse tapestry of cultures, faiths, and families [and] Asbury Park Day is a collaborative community celebration.”
Last year’s event not only featured an interactive art exhibit and painting in the park but a crochet jam.
The volunteer group behind the annual event is now seeking additional volunteers and vendors, including local artists, crafters, musicians, food purveyors, and interested organizations.
