IStar high rise now ‘Asbury Ocean Club and Surfside Resort’
Project includes 130 condos, 54-room boutique hotel and retail
The waterfront high rise now under construction by master waterfront redeveloper iStar will have a new name: Asbury Ocean Club, Surfside Resort and Residences at 1101 Ocean Avenue.
The sixteen story tower will offer 130 condominiums starting on the sixth floor, consisting of one- to four-bedroom residences, six of which are duplex penthouses, according to a spokesperson for iStar. Five of those will have private terraces on the two top floors.
The building will also include a 54-room boutique hotel with public spaces and private amenities including a resident lounge, screening room, fitness center and spa, business center, pool and private beach club — all set above a four story parking garage, with retail on the first floor.
When completed Asbury Ocean Club will stand as one of the tallest residential buildings on the Jersey Shore. It’s slated for completion next year.
Istar took over the redevelopment rights and ownership of various properties in the Asbury waterfront in 2010.
Istar CEO Jay Sugarman has tapped Anda Andrei, President of Anda Andrei Design, formerly Director of Design with the Ian Schrager Company, to oversee all creative decisions for the entire redevelopment project. In that role, Andrei selects the designers and architects for each project, and helps guide their work.
For Asbury Ocean Club, iStar’s design professionals include Handel Architects (The Dream, Four Seasons Miami); Bonetti Kozerski Studios (Public Hotel New York, PACE Gallery); and landscape designer Madison Cox (Majorelle Gardens in Marrakech, Spring Garden at the French National Museum at the Château de Blérancourt).
