James Avery Celebrates Farmly Grand Opening In Sea Girt
Bonney Read's Top Chef Launches farm-to-table on-the-go eatery
Asbury Park’s own Chef James Avery celebrated the grand opening of his newly launched Farmly restaurant in Sea Girt on Monday.
Avery [at right], best known as Gordon Ramsay’s sous chef on the popular Hell’s Kitchen television show, served as executive chef at Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten before opening the Bonney Read on Cookman Avenue in 2015.
He launched Farmly on May 27 and on Monday, Avery and his team were joined by a few friends, Mayor Timothy J. Farrell and Committeeman Carl Braun, in christening the soulful farm-to-table on-the-go eatery, located on 35 North in Sea Girt [next door to the Lanes at Sea Girt bowling alley].
Avery said the concept was born from his own busy schedule and need to feed his family of six.
“It’s a refreshing concept that will offer a healthy, convenient alternative to families and individuals, whether they’re on the way to the beach or just heading home after a long day,” he said in a written statement.
On the menu are slow-cooked meats and homestyle sides comprised of sustainable-conscious ingredients, like brussels sprouts & radishes, carrot & chicory Salad, and the gigante beans & broccoli rabe. There’s also a salad bar and sandwich options.
“We aim to raise the bar in every area of dining,” Avery said. “Our build-your-own meals are made right in front of you with quality, sustainable ingredients from farmers and suppliers who share our values of wholesomeness and authenticity. The majority of our dishes are made from scratch, with minimalist yet savory seasonings, honest cooking methods and seasonal fun.”
The nutrient-dense meals are even accompanied with compostable containers, including utensils made from plant-based materials.
Farmly is located at 2100 Route 35 North in Sea Girt. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. For more information visit their website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
