Monthly Free Parking Hours Offered At Bangs Ave Garage
Kendle: First Saturday Initiative Aimed At Enticing Visitors & Biz Revenue
City officials have announced free parking will be available at the Bangs Avenue garage on the first Saturday of every month.
The 1 to 5 p.m. free parking runs in line with ‘First Saturday’ events administered by Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce and downtown venues.

“Once the summer season concludes, we are planning on continuing with First Saturdays by offering events in town on the first Saturday of every month that will continue to keep Asbury Park top-of-mind for visitors,” Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sylvia Sylvia-Cioffi said.
The free parking dates are July 7, August 4 and September 1, 2018, city officials said.
“The City has offered free parking to help support this program in the past, and we are happy to be able to continue to do so,” Mayor John Moor said in the written statement.
The free parking is tied the mission of driving traffic to local businesses, officials said. During the First Saturday events, participating businesses offer discounts, deals and events to entice consumers to shop.
“First Saturdays are a great way to entice more visitors to the City and those visitors are going to drive revenue for our local businesses,” Councilman Jesse Kendle said.
