A township resident who officials say tried to rob an Ocean Township man by gunpoint inside his apartment complex has been remanded to Monmouth County Jail.

Lawrence C. Moton, 29, is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ocean Township Police responded to the Blue Swan Diner near 4:34 a.m. Saturday to investigate the report of a male being threatened with a handgun. The victim said he was in the Twinbrook Apartment complex when a subject brandished a handgun and attempted to rob him, officials said. The victim fled on foot and ran to the diner to report the incident.

His description of the suspect led to Moton’s arrest, who remains in Monmouth County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
