Families Belong Together Campaign Continues in AP
Yawn Mower, Sammy Kay & Pamela Flores Headline 6 p.m. Tuesday Benefit At Parlor Gallery On Cookman Ave
Local surf rock duo Yawn Mower is joining Pamela Flores and Sammy Kay in headlining a Tuesday night fundraising benefit in support of Cloyd Edralin at Parlor Gallery.
Edralin is a 30 year long green card holder who was taken into custody at 5:30 a.m. June 4 by immigration officials, family members have said.
“He is being detained for a BB Gun conviction from 2007,” his sister in law Jodie Battaglia said. At the time Edralin paid fines and given probation.
His sister Chariza Edralin said he is a legal U.S. resident.
“He was taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] while on his way to work,” she has said. “They were waiting outside for him to step off the property so they could verify his name and take him away from his family. His wife and four children are U.S. citizens. Due to recent immigration policy changes, he is being held at a detention center to be processed for deportation.”
Hundreds came to a standstill during the July Families Stand Together rally in Springwood Avenue Park when his 15 year-old daughter spoke of the families ongoing personal and legal challenges.
The 6 to 10 p.m. benefit, hosted by Chariza Edralin, Jodie Battaglia and Angie Sugrim, is being held in support of Edralin’s legal costs and to support the family in his absence.
Aside from the musical entertainment, there will be local speakers and a an opportunity to meet the family. There will be an array of local vendors, chances to win prizes, and food, courtesy of area chefs and Edralin’s mother.
Parlor Gallery is located at 717 Cookman Ave. The $20 tickets are available via the Facebook and eventbrite.com pages. There is also an ongoing GoFundMe campaign, with any excess monies not used by the family earmarked in support of other immigrant families in similar situations.
