City Council Temporarily Suspends Paid Meter Parking
Free Parking In Asbury Park On Saturday Afternoons & Holidays Through The New Year
The Asbury Park City Council has suspended all paid meter parking from noon to 6 pm Saturdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, city officials have announced.
“Asbury Park is a great place to get your holiday shopping done,” Councilperson Yvonne Clayton said in a written statement. “Our independent retail has everything you need for unique gifts. By temporarily suspending paid parking during peak shopping hours, and the peak shopping season, we want to encourage everyone to check off their holiday lists with the perfect gifts from Asbury Park.”
The action was approved via resolution and includes suspended paid meter parking all day on Thanksgiving [11/24], Christmas [12/25], and New Year’s Day [1/1].
iStar Senior Vice President of Land and Development Brian Cheripka has confirmed that the master waterfront redeveloper’s parking lots will remain free during the winter months.
“We try to keep the large parking lots closest to retail open to help the businesses,” Cheripka said. “Some of the small lots are closed due to operating costs.”
