Asbury Park’s schools will be closed on Monday, Oct. 29, due to the impending hurricane, officials announced today.

A special board of education meeting originally set for Monday night has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, at Bradley Elementary School at 7 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the superintendent’s contract. The board may convene in executive session and action may be taken. Previously, the board’s vote on the superintendent’s contract was inconclusive.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to hit the shore in full force on Monday and Tuesday, while the area will start to see rain and wind as early as this weekend, Valerie Meola of National Weather Service said this morning.
