Asbury Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee Announces 2019 Grand Marshal Dinner
March 7 Fundraising Event Honors 100 Yr Old Rotary Club of Asbury Park
Just ahead of the Sixth Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 10 in Asbury Park, the community will come together to honor this year’s Grand Marshal – the Rotary Club of Asbury Park. Celebrating its centennial anniversary in April, the local nonprofit is most known for its fellowship and service programs throughout the greater Monmouth County region.
The 7 to 10 pm March 7 Grand Marshal dinner will be held at the historic Convention Hall on the AP Boardwalk. This year, the often sold-out event will feature an end of night fireworks display, organizers said in a written statement.
The Asbury Park St Patrick’s Day Parade is known for drawing over 10,000 people to the city. This year, the parade has garnered over 60 entrants, including marching units, award-winning Mummers, traditional pipe & drum bands, and floats from some of the city’s most favored organizations and establishments, including The Stone Pony, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, and Lakehouse Recording Studio.
From traditional to the unusual, the parade features everything that is exceptional about Asbury Park, organizers say. In 2013 a committee gathered to produce a St. Patrick’s Day Parade that celebrates the diversity of the people and culture of Asbury Park. Much thought and planning went into the original concept to make certain that it was all inclusive and unique to Asbury Park while still incorporating the most loved traditions of a good old-fashioned parade.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is funded solely through donations and local fundraisers. Each year, the parade proceeds are donated to charitable organizations, including the AP Little League, The Center, AP Historical Society, Victims of the Orlando Shooting, APFD Local 384, and AP Recreation.
Prizes are awarded in six categories – Best of Parade, Best Marching Band/Music, Best Animals/Pets, Best Youth [18 or under], Best Float, and Best Costumes.
Tickets to the 7 pm Grand Marshal Dinner are $60, available via The Stone Pony box office and through Ticketmaster.com. For more information, visit asburyparkstpatricksparade.com or their Facebook page. Donations may be sent to P.O. Box 694, Asbury Park, NJ 07712.
