84th Annual AP Easter Parade & Pageant Set For April 21
Bragging Rights, Trophies & Prizes At Stake For Historic Best in Promenade
The City of Asbury Park is preparing for its 84th Annual Easter Parade and Pageant, which will take place 1 to 3 pm April 21 at the Paramount Theater [1300 Ocean Avenue].
The annual event is a popular best of contest with prizes given for everything from most creative bonnets to best-dressed men, women, boys, girls, and families.
“It’s with great pride that we celebrate the 84th annual Asbury Park Easter Parade and Pageant,” Councilman Jesse Kendle said in a written news statement. “The parade is the City’s longest running event. It gives our community a chance to come out in their most colorful outfits, springtime dresses and flowered bonnets to celebrate Easter together.”
The community event welcomed 250 participants from across the Jersey Shore last year, organizers said.
The day begins at 1 pm iconic boardwalk procession, which kicks off in front of Robinson’s Ale House [1200 Ocean Ave]. Judges will cast votes for the top three best-dressed men, women, boys, girls, families, and unusual bonnets.
Asbury Park Police Officer Craig Breiner returns as the Easter Bunny and this year’s pageant judges include Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, City Council members Jesse Kendle, Yvonne Clayton and Eileen Chapman, and retired Asbury Park Board of Education employee Jessie Ricks.
Mobile Music will set the backdrop with Easter music; Rose of Sharon the décor; and CSC Trophies-Awards & Gifts the trophies.
