Beats & Rhymes Boot Camp Returns April 22 to 26
Free Weeklong Workshop Culminates With Lakehouse Recording
Spring break will not include travel but a week filled with writing, rehearsals, recording, and performances for some local teens.
On Monday, the Beats & Rhymes Boot Camp at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County and Lakehouse Recording Studios returns. The intensive training program, which launched last summer as a pilot, returns as a free weekly program for area youth.
The workshop runs from April 22 to 26. It will give teens a chance to learn skills needed to produce their own beats through audio and song production, as well as engineering. Teens will spend the last day recording their songs at Lakehouse Recording Studios.
The Boot Camp is an outgrowth of the Hip Hop Institute at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, which launched in 2015 as a collaboration with Lakehouse Music Academy – a progressive music school committed to the development of comprehensive musicianship for every student. Students explore the back-end process of producing a record including editing, sound engineering, and branding. In addition to learning how to mix music and using state-of-the-art audio engineering equipment, participants acquire the skills necessary for writing, producing, and marketing their creations.
The program was made possible through funding by the Jules L Plangere, Jr. Family Foundation.
