Asbury Park Film Initiative Celebrates 10 Years
Wednesday Night Free Summer Films On Second Avenue Beach Returns in August
Celebrating 10 years of providing free moving screenings on the Second Avenue beach in front of Langosta Lounge, the Asbury Park Film Initiative [APFI] has just announced its 2019 lineup.
APFI is a nonprofit founded by entrepreneurs Marilyn Schlossbach of Langosta Lounge and film publicist VJ Carbone as a way to provide the city with film and art-related activities that promote culture, education & diversity. Their free film series have included screenings at the iconic Paramount Theatre.
This year the curated classic film screenings will move from Thursday to Wednesday nights at sunset, organizers said. The family-friendly movies are screened on Shore Flicks’ 16-foot inflatable screen [shown in feature photo].
Held at dusk, the weekly viewings Carbone are free to the public, with a recommendation to bring your own beach chairs and blankets. Schedule updates will be provided via their Facebook page.
The 2019 schedule includes:
Wednesday, Aug 7 – ET
Wednesday, Aug 14 – Big Wednesday
Wednesday, Aug 21 – Jaws 2
Wednesday, Aug 28 – Goonies
