Asbury Park Police Department Promotes Veteran Officers
Captain Guy Thompson promoted to Deputy Chief of Police
Asbury Park Police Department held a promotion ceremony Monday at the historic Paramount Theatre, located on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
Chief David Kelso led the ceremony, with Deputy City Clerk Melody Hartsgrove administering the official oath of office.
Promotions for veteran officers included:
Captain Guy Thompson’s promotion to Deputy Chief of Police, David DeSane from Lieutenant to Captain, Amir Bercovicz from Lieutenant to Captain, Alastair Sweeney from Sergeant to Lieutenant, Lorenzo Pettway from Sergeant to Lieutenant, Michael Barnes from Sergeant to Lieutenant, Joe Leon from Detective to Sergeant, Thomas Gogan from Detective to Sergeant, and Javier Campos from Detective to Sergeant.
The ceremony was attended by friends, family, former and current Asbury Park Police Officers, City officials, representatives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and members from surrounding police agencies.
