Asbury Boardwalk closed to prevent spread of Covid-19
Too many people violated mandated social distancing guidelines
Asbury Park’s boardwalk is now closed to the public as a result of the public not following social distancing guidelines, according to an announcement from the city.
For now, the city’s beaches are open, with access from First, Third and Sunset Avenues. There will also be access at the end of Deal Lake Drive.
If social distancing guidelines are not followed on the beaches, those too will be closed, the city announcement stated.
The following is the city’s statement as posted on its website:
“Effective immediately, Asbury Park Boardwalk will be closed to the public until further notice to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
Asbury Park Beaches will remain open for now, but are subject to closure should social distancing guidelines not be followed. Access across the boardwalk to the beach will be available at First, Third and Sunset Avenues. Access to the beach will also be available at Deal Lake Drive.”
