Asbury Park PorchFest today with over 70 musical acts
Performances will take place on the porches of 14 homes in the city
The 4th annual Asbury Park PorchFest takes place today, Saturday, Sept 26, with over 70 musical acts scheduled to perform on the porches of 14 homes in the city.
The music starts at 1 pm and ends at 5:45 pm. Click here for a Program Guide with a map of porches and performers.
“This family-friendly, FREE event features musicians from a wide variety of genres,” according to the Asbury Park Porchfest website.
Attendees will stroll from porch to porch and relax on front lawns and sidewalks as they enjoy live, local talent.
There are some requirements on attendees this year because of the Cover-19 pandemic. Face masks will be required for everyone, and social distancing is required. No food or beverages will be served this year at the porches, and attendees should not bring food. Beverages brought should ideally have a straw to help adhere to the mask rule. Click here for more information above Covid-19 requirements at the PorchFest event.
Asbury Park PorchFest is completely coordinated by volunteers “who believe in the power of music and understand that engagement builds strong communities,” according to the group’s website.
PorchFest was founded in Ithaca, NY in September 2007 by neighbors Gretchen Hildreth and Lesley Greene. Over the years the concept of hosting performances on front porches, for an audience who moved from home to home, has grown with communities around the United States organizing PorchFests of all sizes.
“Asbury Park’s passionate connection to music, its beauty and camaraderie, and its beautiful porches make it an ideal town for our own annual PorchFest.” according to the Asbury Park PorchFest website.
Asbury Park PorchFest is a 501 (c)(4) non-profit organization. The founder is Asbury Park resident Jordan Modell.
