Popular food truck court set to reopen on beachfront
Madison Marquette aiming for July 1 start date; earlier hours this year
The target date is July 1 to reopen the popular North Eats food truck court after the City Council approved an authorizing resolution on Wednesday night.
“I’m excited to get it activated. It’s a great thing,” said John Muly, Senior Vice President for Development for boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette.
There will be four food trucks this year, and the agreements were just sent to the operators for their signatures, Muly said. When the signed documents are returned, each food truck is good to go.
The hours will start earlier than in past years, with an opening time of 8 am to allow a breakfast option. The trucks will stay open until 9 pm.
Master waterfront redeveloper iStar owns the land, which is located on the northern portion of the beachfront. IStar has been getting the site ready with refreshed landscaping, electric service and other infrastructure for the site. Madison Marquette is responsible for signing up and handling the food trucks and the operation of the site itself.
“We are pleased to be able to help bring the food trucks back to the North End Boardwalk. The Mayor and City Council had expressed a strong desire to give residents and visitors an additional option for food service this summer,” said Brian Cheripka, Senior Vice President for Land and Development at iStar.
“After speaking with the team at Madison Marquette, we realized that this is something we could get done quickly if we worked together,” Cheripka said. “With the refreshed landscaping and expanded hours of operation, we are confident that this activation will make it a better beach experience.”
