Fetish Convention closes Berkeley to public for weekend
Dauphin Grille will only serve convention attendees to avoid offending unsuspecting patrons
A sold-out fetish convention has the Berkeley Hotel locked to the public this weekend.
The convention is called “Brimstone III: Parkway to Hell.” According to the event’s website, it’s “a group of the Northeast’s finest alternative sex groups with experience in straight, gay, BDSM, fantasy roleplay and fetish areas. Management is provided by the Diogenes Group, Inc. — a registered NJ Educational nonprofit.” Dates for the event are Nov. 23-25.
The convention is sold out this year with space available for 750 attendees, the website stated.
The group did rent the Berkeley last year, and attendees apparently had high praise for the hotel. From the Brimstone III website:
Everyone loved the Berkeley with it’s fabulous rooms, crystal chandeliers and marble floors — and so much room that we could have six things going on at once with nothing stepping on anything else. Unlike most hotels it has more than 3,000 SF of ballroom and meeting space. That’s FOUR TIMES the space most hotels have, so we don’t have to tear down the playspace to do a class and vending isn’t so tight that you can’t turn around. Also, the onsite restaurants and bar are first class but if you want something different (or cheaper) there are lots of restaurants in the area, from fast-food to four star dining. There is train and bus access, plus free parking in the hotel lot and low-cost on street parking as well.
Meanwhile, the hotel’s Dauphin Grille restaurant has a notice on its Facebook page that it will be closed to the public until Monday to avoid offending anyone coming to the restaurant unaware of the convention. However, it will be serving Brimstone III convention attendees.
