A local man was arrested following a family argument when he allegedly stabbed a pit bull, Police Chief Mark Kinmon said.
During a squabble between Altarik Cullum, 26, and his father, Cullum “pulled out a steak knife and threatened his father,” Kinmon said. A pit bull belonging to Cullum’s brother ran toward Cullum and tried to attack him, Kinmon said.
“Cullum stabbed the dog with the steak knife,” Kinmon said. “No one else was injured.”
The dog sustained a minor puncture wound and was taken to a veterinarian.
The incident occurred on Mattison Avenue, between Langford and Comstock streets, at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, according to police records. Cullum was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and unlawful possession of weapons.
