The Sun’s city council preview — Dec. 19, 2012
Council to vote on bonding for Sandy repairs
Asbury Park’s city council will meet tonight in council chambers, with a closed executive session starting at 5 p.m.; a workshop session at 6 p.m. and a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Items on the agenda include:
• A bond ordinance for costs related to repairs following Hurricane Sandy. The bond includes $450,000 for the Sunset Lake foot bridge; $800,000 for broken parking pay stations; $3.3 million for the sewer plant; and $4.5 million for boardwalk repairs. • A decision on bids for the West Side Community Center restroom improvements. This project will be funded by a community development block grant [CDBG].
• A presentation on waterfront infrastructure financing. Construction at the Vive townhome site — as well as future projects in the waterfront redevelopment area — depends on approval of a finance plan.
• A review of the proposed charter study budget from charter study chair Pam Lamberton. The budget is $18,000, with funds set aside for expenses like a secretary and printing.
• The city will also discuss the infrastructure financial agreement, collective bargaining agreements for the state health benefits program, the position of chief financial officer and a waterfront surface parking lot agreement in closed session at 6 p.m.
