Think of this Friday Foto as a reminder that beach season is just around the corner. This shot, which is more reminiscent of 1961 than 2011, was taken by Asbury Park resident Claire Lorenzo last year. The Fordham University Visual Arts student took it using 35mm black and white Kodak Tri-x film.
“I’ve been taking photographs of any kind I could (digital first, film later) for five years,” Lorenzo said. “I live in Asbury Park when I’m not away at school. I took this last summer later in the season. I’ve spent summers in Asbury for five years now and I’m continually amazed at how much it grows year to year. The number of people, the new businesses, it’s a spot. It’s a place I want to be caught in late July, on a cool summer night. Asbury Park is everything to me.”
