The district has introduced a tentative school budget for the 2013-2014 school year.

The budget “looks similar to the one from last year,” district communications officer Christina Coloma said this week.

The district will not receive cuts to state aid this year, as Governor Chris Christie announced there will be no cuts to school districts throughout the state.

The board convened in a special meeting to vote on the budget on Wednesday, March 7. Board president Angela Ahbez-Anderson and board members Barbara Lesinski and Christian Hall were the only members to attend.

The board needs five members present to constitute a quorum and conduct business, so state-appointed fiscal monitor Lester Richens exercised his authority to approve the tentative budget on the board’s behalf, board member Lesinski said.

A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for March 21 at 7 p.m. in the Bradley Elementary School. After the hearing, board members will vote on its final adoption.
