Atom Worth Wins Two 2018 NYC Emmy® Awards
Accolades Given For Outstanding Short Form Editor & Photographer
Asbury Park creative Adam ‘Atom’ Worth took home two National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences New York Chapter last month; one for Outstanding Editor: Short Form and the other for Outstanding Photographer: Short Form.
The accolades, for work featured on the local public access station – Asbury Park Television [APTV], were announced during the 61st annual event.
Worth has been an APTV contributor for several years and has created many compelling segments featuring local artists, City officials said.
“We are incredibly proud of the team at APTV for their dedication and creativity,” Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, who oversees the public access station, said in a written statement. “And we are especially proud that the Academy has recognized Adam for the incredible work he is producing to highlight Asbury Park.”
Worth also received an audio nomination [along with James Baglino].
Known around town for his dance inspiring spins, often coupled with on the beat visuals, Worth’s has received prior nods for his works, including in the cinematography category. In 2013 he won an Emmy for his spotlight on the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
“I have to thank my parents for buying me my first video camera at the age of 18,” Worth said after last year’s nod from the Academy.
A Wanamassa native who has called Asbury Park home for many years, Worth got his start 18 years ago as DJ of a Monmouth University Soul/Funk show. He earned a BA in music business, radio and television communications and minored in film studies at Monmouth University.
Worth has spun at many of the city’s popular venues, including The Asbury, House of Independents, at Convention Hall events, Langosta Lounge, Porta, the Annex, Wonder Bar, Watermark, Johnny Mac’s, etc.
But his roots lay in television production, where he honed his editing and directing skills.
As an editor, Worth created commercials and marketing videos for brands like Buick, Duracell, Old Spice, Energizer, Febreeze, Advil, Bayer, Pfizer, Zyrtec, Kahlua, Glenlivet, Kay Jewelers, Tumi, Metlife, Komen for the Cure, Depends, Kotex, and many more.
Most recently, he spent the past month taping the Salt School, Asbury Lanes edition.
“As a freelancer, I owe everything to the production companies that hire me,” Worth has said. “I have to extend thanks to them. Speaking of that, I’m only able to earn a living in Asbury Park because of the way this community nurtures and supports the arts. I am blessed to be here, I couldn’t have accomplished anywhere near what I have without Asbury Park.”
