Affected by Sandy? Meet with state officials at City Hall tomorrow
Christie administration organizes mobile cabinet office hours
Several state agencies will hold mobile cabinet office hours in Asbury Park on April 11 to provide guidance to people whose homes or businesses were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
The event will bring key state-level agency personnel who deal with housing, permitting and business assistance, as well as representatives from FEMA [the Federal Emergency Management Agency] and the National Flood Insurance Program, to Asbury Park’s City Hall to provide information to area residents.
The goal is to provide a one-stop community outreach program to New Jerseyans who need individualized assistance with Sandy-related problems, said Sean Conner, deputy press secretary for the governor’s office, in an email today.
The Christie administration is organizing the event, although Governor Chris Christie himself will not be present. The governor began this initiative last November, Conner said, and since then, state officials have conducted mobile cabinets throughout Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Bergen counties.
Residents seeking assistance can expedite the process by bringing documentation related to the issues they are facing, Conner said. For example, individuals with insurance issues should bring their policies and any claims information, documentation or relevant correspondence.
The event will be set up like a job fair or a resource fair, Conner said, with each agency setting up its own station to address residents’ needs.
Some agencies sending representatives include the Governor’s Office of Constituent Relations, the Department of Banking and Insurance, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Community Affairs, the Business Action Center, FEMA and the National Flood Insurance Program, according to a release.
The event will take place tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall, which is located at One Municipal Plaza, on Main Street at the end of Mattison Avenue.
