Below is the Allenhurst Police Department crime report from May 8 through 23.
MAY 24
• A 47-year-old Asbury Park man was arrested on an outstanding Wall warrant and also charged with driving with an expired and suspended driver’s license by Patrolman Marc Eustace.
• A 25-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving while suspended and unlicensed by Patrolman Scott Rapolla.
• A 31-year-old Garfield man was charged with driving with an expired driver’s license by Patrolman Rapolla.
• Special Officer Whitney Molinelli and Patrolman Anthony Carafa assisted Deal Police Department in investigating a report of a possible drowning at the Loch Arbour beach. It was later determined the call had been a hoax.
MAY 25
• Patrolman Rapolla and Special Officer Jeffrey Henry investigated a trespassing incident at the beach area. The person left of their own accord.
• Special Officer Molinelli, Patrolmen Rapolla and Wray Burritt responded to a disorderly person report at a Main Street business. It was an ex-employee who left the area.
• Three juveniles were questioned in relation to a bicycle theft at Benson Park by Patrolmen Burritt, Rapolla, and Special Officer Molinelli. The juveniles were found to have no connection to the investigation and the person who reported the theft left the area before he could be questioned.
MAY 26
• A 30-year-old Asbury Park man was arrested on an outstanding Allenhurst warrant during a click it or ticket checkpoint by Patrolmen David Lipari and Rapolla. Both the driver and passenger were issued failure to wear their seatbelt.
• A 20-year-old Long Branch man was charged with driving while suspended and driving without insurance after a vehicle stop by Patrolman Carafa. The vehicle was also impounded.
MAY 27
• Patrolmen Lipari and Carafa responded to a suspicious vehicle report in the area of the train station. The vehicle’s owner was eventually located as he exited a southbound train.
• A 44-year-old Asbury Park man was arrested on criminal warrants from Lakewood and Tinton Falls and a traffic warrant from Asbury Park during a click it or ticket checkpoint. He was processed and remanded to the Lakewood Police Department in default of bail by Patrolmen Rapolla and Eustace. He was issued a summons for not wearing his seatbelt.
MAY 28
• Patrolmen Carafa and Captain Michael Schneider stopped a 34-year-old Asbury Park man and a 27-year-old Bradley Beach woman when one of them was observed coming from the driveway of a home known to be vacant. They were checked for warrants, warned about trespassing on private property, and sent on their way.
• A 45-year-old Long Branch man was charged with violating a borough ordinance prohibiting power tools being used after a certain time of day. The subject was ordered to stop work and was released on a summons by Patrolman Lipari.
MAY 29
• A 29-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with theft after he was found to with a stolen bicycle from the beachfront during the early morning hours. The subject was observed walking by an officer and then a short time later riding the bicycle. The subject was processed and released on a criminal by Patrolmen Lipari and Carafa.
• A man found sleeping on a bench in town during the early morning hours told Patrolman Burritt he was homeless but working in Asbury Park. He was advised of his violation of a borough ordinance and sent on his way.
MAY 30
• While investigating a report of unlawful entry into the Allenhurst Beach Club pool complex and acts of criminal mischief, police found subjects on the beach smoking what appeared to be marijuana. The subjects were apprehended following a short foot chase that resulted in a 20-year-old Dumont man being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Patrolman Carafa, who as assisted by Special Officer Henry and Patrolman Rapolla.
• A 28-year-old Oakhurst man was charged with driving while suspended and having an overdue inspection by Captain Schneider.
MAY 31
• Police investigation into a report of a downed plane in the ocean near the Loch Arbour beach proved to be unfounded. Officers from Allenhurst and Deal responded to the call.
JUNE 1
• A 37-year-old Oakhurst man was charged with driving while unlicensed following a vehicle stop for speeding by Patrolman Eustace.
• A 21-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license following a vehicle stop by Patrolman Rapolla.
JUNE 2
• During the early morning police discovered a large water main break at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Main Street. The NJ American Water Company responded and the road was closed until the afternoon for necessary repairs.
• A failure to yield at an intersection charge was issued to a driver in a two-vehicle crash at Corlies and Norwood avenues. There were no reported injuries and both vehicles were able to drive from the scene. Captain Schneider was assisted by Special Officer Henry.
JUNE 3
• A 24-year-old Long Branch woman was charged with driving while unlicensed and for maintenance of lamps by Patrolman Eustace.
JUNE 4
• Patrolman Carafa and K9 Bia assisted Shrewsbury Police Department with a D.A.R.E. presentation at their elementary school.
JUNE 6
• The search for a missing 46-year-old woman said to have psychological issues resulted in her being located, with the aid of her cellular phone carrier, unharmed and in good health in Sea Girt. She was transported back to headquarters and reunited with her guardian. Patrolman Libari was assisted by Captain Schneider.
JUNE 7
• A 25-year-old Long Branch man was arrested on an outstanding Newark warrant following a vehicle stop by Patrolman Carafa.
• An investigation continues into a report from a person who said they were almost struck by a vehicle on Cedar Avenue during the early morning hours. The reporting party believes the “close call” was deliberate and officers are checking surveillance cameras in the area. The vehicle is described as an early 1990’s model white Ford. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident call (732) 531-2255. All information will be kept confidential. Patrolman Carafa is investigating.
From May 23 to June 7 police responded to six residential and commercial alarm calls; reports nine borough ordinance violations; responded to a noise complaint; arrested 6 individuals on various contempt of court warrants, two of which were remanded to Monmouth County Jail in default of bail; and had four incidents of assisting other agencies.
