Allenhurst police blotter for February
From motor vehicle stops to deer causing alarm
Allenhurst Police Chief Michael Schneider has released the borough’s police blotter for the month of February. The following is his report:
2/1/20
Police arrested a 31-year old Belmar man, for an active warrant out of Belmar, after stopping his vehicle. He was processed and released on his recognizance, as per Belmar PD. There were no local charges filed. Ptl Coeyman was the arresting officer.
2/2/20
After stopping a 24-year old Neptune Twp man for a moving violation, officers found he was driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was processed and released on 2 summonses, with a pending court date. The vehicle was released to a properly licensed driver. Ptl Edson was the arresting officer.
2/3/20
Officers responded to an Elberon Avenue residence for a report of someone in the backyard of a vacant house. A check of the area determined the sounds in the backyard were caused by deer in the area.
2/7/20
After stopping a 22-year old Allenhurst man for a motor vehicle violation, officers subsequently arrested the 25-year old Toms River male passenger, when it was discovered he had an active warrant, out of Shrewsbury. He was processed and released, after posting partial cash bail. The driver was released on scene with 1 summons. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by Sgt Rogers.
2/7/20
Officers were advised of a minor motor vehicle crash, which had occurred on Main Street, and officers had not been summoned to the scene. Since the report was made “after the fact”, the driver was given a Citizen’s crash report to complete. The police department is reminding all to report all motor vehicle crashes, so that it can be properly documented.
2/8/20
Police stopped a 42-year old Long Branch woman for speeding and found she was an unlicensed driver (never having had a license). She was processed and released on 2 summonses, with a proper court date. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer.
2/8/20
An Allenhurst resident advised police of a fraudulent bank transaction. The matter remains an active investigation. Ptl Coeyman was the officer who took the report.
2/9/20
During the early morning hours, officers stopped a 22-year old Massachusetts man for an equipment violation and the driver was found to be an unlicensed driver (never having had a license). The driver was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was charged with that as well. The subject was processed and released on 3 motor vehicle summonses and 2 criminal charges, with a pending court date. Ptl Edson was the arresting officer and was assisted by Ptl Williams & Ptl Coeyman.
2/12/20
After stopping a 44-year old Toms River man for a moving violation, officers found he was unlicensed (never having had a license). He was processed and released on 2 summonses, with a pending court date. Sgt DiBona was the arresting officer.
2/15/20
Police charged a 31-year old Morristown man with driving while suspended, after stopping his vehicle. He was processed and released on 1 summons, with a pending court date. The vehicle was later released to a properly licensed driver. Ptl Coeyman was the arresting officer.
2/16/20
After stopping a 16-year old Brooklyn teen for a moving violation, officers found the teen was not properly licensed to be driving alone. He was processed and released on 2 summonses, with a pending court date. Ptl Coeyman was the involved officer.
2/17/20
Officers took a report of a fraud from a Cedar Avenue resident. The matter remains an active investigation. Sgt Lipari was the officer involved.
2/18/20
Officers located a subject, who was wanted for an assault in Loch Arbour. The subject was detained and turned over to Deal PD officers. Sgt Lipari, Ptl Eustace & Ptl Williams were the involved officers.
2/21/20
After stopping a 22-year old Neptune Twp man for an equipment violation, officers found he had active warrants for his arrest from Shrewsbury and Union Beach. He was also found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was processed and turned over to Shrewsbury officers, in default of bail. He was also issued 2 traffic summonses from Allenhurst, with a pending court date. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by Chief Schneider.
2/22/20
Police arrested a 23-year old Willingboro man on drug paraphernalia charges, after stopping his vehicle for an expired inspection sticker. He was taken into custody without incident, processed and released on a criminal summons, with a pending court date. He was also issued 2 motor vehicle summonses. Sgt Lipari was the arresting officer.
2/24/20
Officers responded to Police Hq for subjects who wished to report a domestic incident in Long Branch. Officers contacted the Long Branch PD and advised the complainants not to go back to the residence without a police escort. Ptl Edson was the officer taking the report.
2/24/20
After stopping a 45-year old Long Branch man for a motor vehicle violation, officers arrested him on an outstanding criminal warrant, out of Deal. He was issued 2 motor vehicle summonses and his vehicle was impounded. He was also issued a criminal summons for possessing drug paraphernalia. After he was processed, he was turned over to Deal officers, in default of bail. Ptl Eustace was the arresting officer and was assisted by Sgt Lipari.
2/27/20
Police stopped an 18-year old West Long Branch man for an equipment violation and subsequently arrested him on various drug related charges. He was found to be in possession of LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms, prescription medication and many pieces of drug paraphernalia. He was processed and released on both criminal and motor vehicle summonses, all with a pending court date. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer and was assisted by Sgt Rogers
Between February 1st -February 29th, police responded to 11 residential & commercial alarms.
During the above time period, officers also arrested 8 other individuals on contempt of court warrants, with 2 of them being transported to the County Jail, in default of bail.
Officers also responded to 2 incidents involving a suspicious person/vehicle during this time period.
Officers addressed 5 Borough Ordinance or Code Violations during this time period.
The Allenhurst Police Department also had 8 incidents of assisting another agency during the above time period.
