Deer with serious chest wound proves able swimmer in Deal Lake
The following is the unedited October 20-31, 2020 police blotter for the Allenhurst Police Department as submitted by Chief Michael Schneider:
10/20/20
Officers responded to a 911 call, reporting a simple assault. Once on location, a 36-year old Allenhurst man was taken into custody, without incident. The female victim was treated on scene by Allenhurst First Aid Squad and refused further medical attention. He was processed and charged with simple assault, making terroristic threats, and various drug-related charges. Once processing was completed, he was transported to the County Jail, in accordance with bail reform guidelines. The matter remains an ongoing investigation. Sgt DiBona was the arresting officer and was assisted by Sgt Lipari, Chief Schneider, and SO II Griffin.
10/22/20
Police charged a 26-year old Lakewood woman with driving while suspended, after stopping her vehicle. She was processed and released on a summons, with a pending court date. Ptl Coeyman was the arresting officer.
10/22/20
Police charged a 24-year old Brooklyn woman with driving while suspended, after stopping her vehicle for a speeding violation. She was processed and released on a summons, with a pending court date. SO II Griffin was the arresting officer.
10/24/20
After stopping a 20-year old Toms River woman for an equipment violation, officers searched the vehicle, after detecting the smell of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers located only trace amounts of marijuana inside the vehicle. The passenger, a 23-year old Georgia man, was found to be a wanted person, out ofGeorgia, but Georgia authorities would not extradite him. The driver was issued 2 summonses and both subjects were sent on their way.
10/25/20
During the early morning hours, officers were flagged down by a train conductor, who requested assistance in removing an unruly passenger from the train. One female subject was removed from the train, without incident or charges. Sgt Rogers and Ptl Eustace were the involved officers.
10/28/20
Officers were advised of an injured deer, in the area of the Railroad Plaza park. When officers found the deer, they observed it had a very serious wound to its chest area, but the deer jumped into Deal Lake and swam over to West Allenhurst. Humane Society officers were requested to respond. When officers went to the West Allenhurst side, the injured deer swam back to the Allenhurst side. Officers were able to tranquilize the injured deer and it was removed and euthanized. Sgt DiBona was the involved officer.
10/28/20
During the evening hours, officers approached a male subject, on Ocean Avenue, who appeared to be having some type of mental episode. Officers found the 16-year old teen was listed as a missing person, out of Long Branch. The officers were ableto transport the teen to a local hospital, without incident, and his mother also met with officers at the hospital. Ptl Edson and SO II Griffin were the involved officers.
10/31/20
During the late evening hours, stopped a 40-year old Belmar man for a motor vehicle violation, officers found the vehicle’s registration was suspended, the driver was unlicensed (never having had a license) and the vehicle had no insurance. The driver was processed and released on 3 summonses, with a pending court date, and the vehicle was also impounded. Ptl Rapolla was the arresting officer.
Between October 17th – October 31st , officers responded to 4 first aid and/or fire calls.
Police also responded to 1 reports involving a suspicious person or suspicious vehicle.
Officers also addressed 5 Borough Ordinance/Code Violations during this period.
During this time-period, Allenhurst officers also responded to 6 residential & commercial alarm calls.
