Allenhurst police to hold blood drive
'Donation could mean the difference between someone’s life and death'
The Allenhurst Police Department, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, is holding a blood drive on Monday, June 23, from 1 to 6 p.m., according to a news release from the department.
The blood drive will be held on the second floor of Allenhurst Borough Hall, located 125 Corlies Ave.
Those who wish to donate can make an appointment online at redcrossblood.org [sponsor code: allenhurstpd], or by calling police headquarters 732-531-2255 and asking for Capt. Mike Schneider.
Although appointments are not required, scheduling one gives donors the flexibility of coming at a time most convenient for them to reduce their wait time in the process.
“The process uses all sterilized equipment and takes approximately 30 minutes,” Schneider said in the release. “It is a good feeling to leave the blood drive, knowing that your donation could mean the difference between someone’s life and death.”
All donors are required to show identification before donating. Police are reminding everyone that is eligible to donate to consider making a blood donation, since this is the time of year when blood supplies are needed the most.
“It is a very well-run operation and I hope everyone considers making a blood donation”, he said.
