Annual NJ Law Enforcement Service honors fallen
32nd Annual Memorial held Tuesday at Great Auditorium
Fallen police officers from across the state were honored and remembered Tuesday at the 32nd Annual New Jersey Law Enforcement Memorial Service held at the historic Great Auditorium.
Organized by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, it is the oldest statewide memorial for fallen officers in the nation, according to a news release.
The homage pays tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty within the last year, as well as those who have been lost throughout the years.
This year, Trooper Eli M. McCarson and Trooper Anthony A. Raspa of the New Jersey State Police, and Corporal Scott R. Thompson of the Manchester Township Police Department were honored.
Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling [D-Monmouth] presented the fallen officers’ families with commemorative resolutions from the New Jersey General Assembly.
“Meeting these families and being able to thank them for their sacrifice was a privilege,” Houghtaling [at right] said. “The service was a beautiful way to remember those that we’ve lost over the years.”
