Anonymous Gun Amnesty Program set for Sept 10
Guns for Cash collection set for County Prosecutor’s Asbury Satellite
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Anonymous Gun Amnesty program will be held on Sept. 10.
The guns for cash program allows for the remittance of weapons in lieu of cash with no questions asked.
The collection is sponsored by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, Monmouth County Police Chief’s Association, and the Asbury Park Police Department.
According to Asbury Park Police Department officials, rifles and shotguns will be collected $25 per weapon, handguns for $100, and assault weapons will garner $200. No monetary compensation will be given for ammunition, replicas, BB and pellet guns.
Weapons should be transported safely, not concealed on your person but in a box, carry case or with a trigger lock, officials said.
The collection will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s satellite office, located at 710 Main Street.
