AP In 3 FILM CHALLENGE RETURNS
The ShowRoom and Interfaith Neighbors Challenge Local Filmmakers
A call to all creatives who want to participate in the AP IN 3 has been issued.
The 72-hour long whirlwind film-making challenge asks participants to capture the spirit of Asbury Park through a theme of ‘Rolling Streetscapes.’
Sparked through a collaboration between The ShowRoom Cinema and Interfaith Neighbors, the contest runs from Nov. 3 to 5.
“The AP in 3 permits local filmmakers the opportunity to express their creativity and storytelling ability with video and reach an audience.” said ShowRoom cofounder Mike Sodano. “Through our partnership with Interfaith Neighbors, our Rolling Streetscapes theme is open to a larger base of contestants this year.”
This will be the third AP in 3 challenge since 2010, Sodano said. The last challenge was held in 2014.
The competition is open to filmmakers of all ages. The production encompasses the many aspects of movie making, including writing, shooting, editing and scoring, Sodano said.
Interfaith Neighbors will be providing local youth organizations interested in participating with grants to cover the $25 registration fee.
“Supporting arts-based enterprises is an important part of our mission,” said Paul McEvily, Interfaith Neighbors Co-Executive Director. ”The AP in 3 Challenge allows aspiring filmmakers in our area the chance to express themselves in a fun, team-building way.”
The 72-hour competition kicks off on Nov. 2, when a representative of each team will meet at The ShowRoom Cinema, located at 707 Cookman Ave. Teams will submit the $25 registration fee and receive entry packets.
All entries must be returned within 72 hours; by 5 p.m. Nov 5.
Following the judging process, the top 10 entries will be unveiled at a special screening before a live audience 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at The ShowRoom. Prizes will be awarded for First Place, Runner Up and an Audience Award. They include a GOPRO Camera, iPhone Lens Set, and Camera Stabilizer.
