AP makes Downtown Showdown Competition
voters pick favorite city weekly in NJ Monthly bracket-style contest
NJ Monthly magazine is pitting the state’s favored cities against one another and Asbury Park has made the list, Asbury Park Economic Development Director Tom Gilmour said.
“It’s fun and it’s a great way to continue to keep Asbury Park top of mind for the coming Fall Season,” Gilmour said.
The Morristown-based periodical launched the Downtown Showdown Tuesday.
They are asking readers, “What’s the top downtown in New Jersey? We’ve picked our favorites, now it’s your turn.”
Presented by Kings Food Markets, the magazine is using a bracket-style elimination competition to vet the best of 16 contenders.
“We paired our towns by population, from the largest (Jersey City vs. Hoboken) to the smallest (Cape May vs. Lambertville),” the game page reads.
Asbury Park, the city along the Jersey Shore is pitted against Morristown.
Each week voters’ choices will cut the list in half, with voting ending each Monday at noon, with a new round kicking off Tuesdays. Only one vote per person per round will be counted. Multiple submissions will be disabled.
The championship round will begin September 22.
