There’s been a few changes this summer along Asbury Park’s busy downtown Cookman Avenue corridor, and to the views along the way. New to the landscape are everything from the State’s first cat cafe to luxury homes from waterfront redeveloper iStar, located just off the beaten path.
From Larry Cadillac [at right], owner of Asbury Archaeology and Salon in Manalapan, comes his signature barbershop for men and women. This right fit Asbury eclectic shop offers a blend of old-school meets new-style mentality.
On Monday the long-awaited Catsbury Cafe opened at 708 Cookman Avenue offering a coffee, tea and a bit of meow. The state’s first full-service cat cafe offers an array of healthy fare, including a seasonal quiche, veggie focaccia, salads, quinoa porridge, and sweet snacks like its citrus honey tea cake and double chocolate rye cookie.
Also shaking things up is Frutta Bowls at 644 Cookman Avenue, adding to the trending health food revolution that centers around the Acai berry. And the neighboring Lush liquor store fell into new ownership and extended offerings.
An old city favorite Paranormal Books and Curiosities, hosts of the annual Krampus Asbury Park, are undergoing renovations but back any day now.
Hot Mess, which expanded further down Cookman Avenue at 600 Cookman Ave, added the popular boardwalk shop Style Rocket to its offerings.
Robert Legere, just off Cookman Avenue, redefined his design offerings with a new showroom and back to his roots home decor shop at 513 Cookman Ave.
iStars communication center redefined as Outpost, a haven for visiting musicians to unwind while in town.
And at long last, a little off the main corridor we seeing the final touches being placed on the Monroe [shown in featured photo], iStars latest luxury condominiums. Situated between downtown and the beach, the 34-unit development is a result of Anda Andrei’s creative direction and world-renowned architect Chad Oppenheim.
