The city’s Cable Advisory Committee, APTV, has announced it will give Asbury Park council candidates a chance to speak their minds at a forum on Tuesday, April 30.
The event will be held at VFW Post 1333, at 701 Lake Ave., and moderated by the League of Women Voters, Ocean Township section. The forum will begin at 7 p.m.
APTV will record the debate to be viewed or streamed on its website, AsburyParkTV.org, which launches next week, according to a prepared release.
All five council seats are up for grabs in this year’s election, with 22 candidates vying for positions on the dais. Voting takes place on May 14.
APTV is in the process of establishing a channel on Cablevision and Verizon FiOs, according to the release.
“At the very heart of what APTV stands for, and intends to accomplish in the future, is facilitating the communication flow between citizens, elected officials, and stakeholders of our city,” APTV chairman John Kaplow is quoted as saying in the release. “This debate is the perfect introduction to APTV and just one type of programming this committee will start bringing to the city of Asbury Park.”
The Cable Advisory Committee’s mission is to provide an outlet for the city’s public, government, civic, educational and nonprofit organizations to create and present programs that will be broadcast on the public access channels provided by each of the city’s cable television providers.
