Art and music collide along the Asbury Park Boardwalk
Danny Clinch Pop Up Gallery, Wooden Walls tour & free Saturday Jam
Sea ChangeAP, the local public art initiative behind the Wooden Walls art mural project at Sunset Pavilion will feature renowned photographer Danny Clinch’s latest collaborative with RC Hagans – Camera and a Can.
Presented along the Ocean Avenue side of Sunset Pavilion from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, the event includes a walking tour led by ‘Juicy’ Jenn Hampton of Parlor Gallery, and will kick off an art and music weekend event along the waterfront.
Clinch, a Toms River native, has photographed a wide rage of musicians for album covers and publications like Vanity Fair, Spin, Rolling Stone, GQ, and Esquire. His published books include Discovery Inn, When the Iron Bird Flies, and Still Moving.
The Grammy nominated artist also directed music videos for Willie Nelson, Tom Waits, Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters and Dave Mathews.
Clinch will host a weekend pop up gallery from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Fifth Avenue Pavilion, and will be on hand from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday for a book signing.
A free afternoon jam session at the nearby Wonder Bar features Battery Electric, Stringbean and The Stalkers with Clinch and King B. King of the Tangiers Blues Band, Pete Steinkopf and Bryan Kienlen of The Bouncing Souls, Nicole Atkins, and special guest musicians who are a part of the mural project, organizers said. Doors open at 2 p.m.
