Asbury Lanes reopens with movies, bowling and live events
Reconfigured to ensure "a completely social distanced experience"
A major Asbury Park business reopens from the Covid pandemic with the Asbury Lanes opening its doors tonight [Oct. 23] for its Friday night movie and dinner program. Other weekend programming will follow.
“The Lanes returns as Asbury’s premier socially distanced indoor hangout, blending ticketed events with open lounge and bowling hours. Come to sip brews, bowl, watch football or soak in film and music offerings on weekends,” said a statement on the venue’s website.
Saturdays will showcase various events including live music and interactive experiences. Sunday Funday football will return as well as a socially distanced bowling and late night happy hour.
“Our primary focus will always be the safety of our team and our guests and so we have reconfigured the Lanes ensuring a completely social distanced experience and for bowling only half of the lanes are open,” said David Bowd, CEO of Salt Hotels, which operates Asbury Lanes and The Asbury hotel for waterfront redeveloper iStar.
Bowd said the response to the reopening has been “incredible so far” with well over half the tickets sold by early in the week for the first movie tonight, The Addams Family.
“We have all been raring to open the Lanes and with the closure of the Baronet (the roof-top movie venue at The Asbury hotel) and our other outdoor spaces this is the perfect time,” Bowd said.
With more people staying and living permanently in Asbury Park this fall and winter, Bowd says Asbury Lanes hopes to continue the entertainment programming through the winter, along with future partnerships with Garden State Film Festival, Boys & Girls Club, Garden State Equality and other local organizations.
