An Asbury Park man was arrested and charged with shoplifting between $200 and $500 worth of goods from a local pharmacy and then evading police on Thursday.

Kason R. Morris, 40, of Washington Avenue is alleged to have stolen the household and personal hygiene items from the CVS Pharmacy at 4000 Asbury Ave. in Tinton Falls, according to a criminal complaint signed by Tinton Falls police.

Patrolman David Ebert attempted to pull Morris’s car over in connection with the shoplifting incident when Morris accelerated in an attempt to elude Ebert, the complaint alleged.

Morris was later arrested and charged with shoplifting and eluding police, according to the complaint. Morris’s bail was set at $5000 with no ten percent option, the complaint stated.
