Asbury Man charged with heroin and cocaine possession
PD seized: 980 bags of heroin, $1,863.00 in cash, & two bags of cocaine
A 26-year-old Asbury Park man was charged with possession of 980 bags of heroin and other controlled dangerous substances following a motor vehicle stop last month, Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy R. Torchia said.
While the arrest occurred on May 23, a follow up investigation was conducted, delaying release of the information, Torchia said via telephone Tuesday.

Detective Sergeant Thomas Burke and Detective Michael Melody stopped a 2007 Nissan Altima on Highway 35 South [near the Asbury Circle] for equipment and moving violations. The driver was identified as Davon Cody. Further investigation revealed that Cody was in possession of 980 bags of heroin, $1,863.00 in cash, two bags of cocaine, a digital scale with suspected controlled dangerous substance residue and other assorted controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.
Cody was charged with second degree controlled dangerous substance possession with intent to distribute, third degree controlled dangerous substance possession with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, according to the news release.
Cody’s vehicle was seized under the state criminal forfeiture guidelines and he was taken into custody. He was remanded to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash only bail set by Judge Timothy McGoughran.
