Asbury Park Accolades
City’s Culture and Beach Named in National Publications' Best Of Lists
Weeks after Money magazine named Asbury Park the second best beach in nation, the city landed once again on the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award list. The small Jersey Shore City also won accolades from New Jersey Monthly and US News and World Report.
The small beach community is ranked No. 3 on its Best New Jersey Beach list and No 2 on its Best Small Town Cultural Scene.
“It makes sense that Asbury Park would be at the top of the list for both Best New Jersey Beaches and Best Small Town Cultural Scene,” Mayor John Moor said in a written statement. “Our beaches are extraordinarily beautiful and our town has plenty to share with an incomparable music, art and food scene. We have the busiest events calendar of any shore town in the area, which means we have something to offer everyone.”
Asbury Park ranked No. 3 on the 10Best New Jersey Beach list, after Wildwood and Brigantine, respectively, and is one of only two beaches to make the list from Monmouth County, with Sea Girt ranked at No. 9.
On the 10Best Small Town Cultural Scene list, Asbury Park fell second to Lake City in South Carolina, with the publication spotlighting its musical heritage [and connection to Bruce Springsteen], architecture, downtown and boardwalk restaurants, boutiques, bars and the ShowRoom Cinema.
Money magazine also spotlighted Springsteen’s connection to the small city and its entertainment venues, including the Silverball Museum Arcade, Stone Pony Summer Stage, Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, and The Asbury’s Salvation rooftop bar. A special note was made of First Saturday, when the restaurants and shops stay open later than usual.
NJ Monthly spotlighted the city’s real estate, business, tourism and restaurant resurgence, naming Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten as one of the hottest spots in the 1.4 square mile community. Also making the notable list were Toast, Barrio Costero, Talula’s, and Stella Marina.
And, in ranking the city No. 4 on its lits, US News & World Report said, “ Hip culture collides with beachfront views in this New Jersey town. Visitors to Asbury Park can explore its boardwalk, check out a show at various music venues, dine at trendy, one-of-a-kind eateries and stay in unique hotels. The mile-long beach caters to surfers, swimmers, sunbathers and people-watchers”
