Asbury Park Beach Community GoFundMe Page Launched
Crowdfunding Campaign To Support Beach Passes For Low Income Families
In just three days since the Asbury Park Beach Community GoFundMe page launched it has raised over 80 percent of its $3,500 goal to fund seasonal beach passes for low income families.
Page creator Lisa Cramp said in the post:
“Hey let’s help all Asbury Park residents who live way below the poverty level a chance to enjoy Mother Nature – the beach – during the day when life guards are on duty. There are so many children, teens and families who cannot afford the hefty fees to swim and play on the beach during the day. Many impoverished kids or families go to the beach in the evening when there are no lifeguards which is dangerous. This is when drownings tend to occur.”
Last year, a similar initiative by the local Surfrider Foundation, funded through an Earth Day event at the Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, raised enough funds to purchase an estimated 50 badges.
Cramp, who is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club in Asbury Park and Trinity Church, said money raised through the fund will go toward purchasing seasonal beach badges, which cost $70 for adults and $20 for teens and seniors.
I will provide a receipt for each donation & beach badge bought,” she said. “I am excited that the amazing community of Asbury Park has already shown their generosity and their positivity towards this effort to allow all of our community to enjoy the beach.”
