Asbury Park City Council Organizes For New Year
Asbury Together Incumbents Sworn In, Professionals and Committee Members Appointed
A standing room only crowd turned out for the swearing in of the Asbury Park Together team Sunday afternoon.
Incumbents Amy Quinn, Yvonne Clayton and Eileen Chapman were sworn into a four-year term on the Asbury Park City Council by Municipal Judge Daniel J. DiBenedetto during the annual organizational meeting at 2 p.m.
Quinn, who once again was sworn in as Deputy Mayor, thanked her wife Heather Jensen and those who helped run their 2016 campaign for their support.
“I want to thank John [Moor] and Jesse [Kendle] who tirelessly helped us throughout this campaign,” Quinn said.
Clayton thanked the public for their trust.
“I want you to know how honored I am to represent the city,” Clayton said. “I am honored to serve with this Council and I want you to know that going forward as we have in the past we are going to do everything that we can in our power to make this the best city it can be for all its residents.”
Chapman, who took an emotional moment of pause during her swearing in, thanked her running mates for “believing in me,” city employees for “working diligently,” and the public for “all of you for your support.”
The meeting included new appointments and reappointments to municipal committees and professional offices, including the reappointment of DiBenedetto, who will serve another three year term as municipal court judge, and Frederick Raffetto as municipal attorney.
