ASBURY PARK LAUNCHES NEW MOBILE PARKING APP
Remote Meter Payment Now Available Via Downloadable Passport
Just in time for the unofficial summer launch, Asbury Park has launched a new mobile meter parking payment app.
Developed by Passport, patrons can now pay for their parking, keep track of remaining time, and extend parking session remotely, city officials announced Friday afternoon. The new Passport App is a custom application designed to provide a more user-friendly experience for residents and visitors at a lower transaction cost.
“Providing our parkers with the ability to handle their parking experience through their smartphone gives them the convenience they want,” Transportation Manager Michael Manzella [at right] said. “From the user’s perspective, they will be able to easily extend time on their parking sessions without having to feed the meter and at no additional transaction cost. With Passport building us a custom app, we have a great opportunity to positively re-brand parking in the City of Asbury Park.”
To get started, users will need to download the app and create an account with their smartphone device.
The new “Asbury PARK” app will provide parkers with the flexibility to either pay for individual parking sessions with their debit and credit card or load funds onto a digital wallet.
Once parked, users will simply enter their space number located on the street, a length of stay, and confirm their payment information.
Parking enforcement officials can view the parking sessions on handheld devices and will know which spaces are paid.
“We hope that all visitors to our downtown and waterfront find that this is a better experience than how paying for parking has been in the past,” Mayor John Moor said. “We expect that more and more people will use the app to pay for parking, which will ease the burden on the parking pay stations.”
The “Asbury PARK” app is free to download through the App Store and Google Play store, officials said.
