The newly formed Friends of the Library fundraising group will be introduced during a holiday open house from 10 am to 2 pm at the Asbury Park Library, located at 500 First Ave.

“This event, which is being hosted by the library, was first proposed by the Library Board, to celebrate the Friends and to connect with the broader community of Asbury Park ahead of what will no doubt be a very exciting 2019,” AP Library Friends Acting President Nicole DeGeorge said in a written statement. “There will be treats and refreshments from local businesses, a library card signup, and also DIY bookmarks and book charms sessions.”

The free event launches a shift in Saturday library hours, now open from 10 am to 3 pm, organizers said. The other hours of operation are 11 am to 8 pm Monday through Wednesday, 9 am to 5 pm Thursday and Friday.
